A letter from Alastair Morrice:
Dear friends of COSEN,
I do wish you all that is best in this time when we focus so specially on the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
May this be a season when we are more than ever aware of God’s desire for the closest possible relationship with us.
COSEN had a few key moments in 2013 and some significant gatherings and now we are on the edge of the beginning of 2014. Already we have in mind to have a national gathering in June, but it has come strongly to me that we should try to meet before then to encourage each other to freshly focus on God. So I am busy, with the Steering Group, planning some gatherings under the title ‘Focussing on God’ for February and March.
These will take place in Inverness East on 19th February from 2-5pm, Glasgow St George’s Tron on 27th February 6-9pm, Perth North on 11th March from 2-5pm and Edinburgh Palmerston Place on 14th March from 6-9pm.
Each of these meetings, including time for some refreshments, will last three hours and will focus on prayer for our central ministries as we focus on God Himself. The preaching of the Gospel, pastoring the people of God, living in fellowship, and seeing communities transformed by the power of God.
There will be time to challenge ourselves on these essential elements in our calling and in all things seek the forgiveness, the inspiration, the encouragement and the passion of God as we seek to be co-workers with God in the renewal of the Church of Scotland in these crucial days. Can I encourage you now to set aside one of these times and places so that you can meet with others to seek God in this way.
If you can’t come to the one nearest you because the date is inconvenient, perhaps you might make a special effort to travel further to be at another one. COSEN was born out of prayer, and its lifeblood is prayer….its purpose is the glory of God.
In glad fellowship,
